Top teams do battle Sunday
By Dannie Abu Basrah
Ninth-placed Jeruding FC will take on
NBT tonight at the Belapan complex in the only Premier 1 fixture
today, desperately looking to salvage their season after going through
a 3-game losing streak.
For NBT though, inconsistency has
been their main problem, a shortcoming that saw them perform like a
roller coaster in round 1, winning one week and losing the next
There will be two games on Friday,
featuring last week's big winners Indera, who will takes on struggling
Bandaran KB at the Belapan complex. The Kuala Belait team have yet to
record a win, even after 10 games.
The other fixture at the JBS stadium
should be an exciting one, as both teams need to rebound from defeats
- Kasuka after their 5-0 thrashing by ABDB last week, and QAF FC who
lost 2-1 to leaders DPMM FC despite being in the lead initially.
But the highlight of the week must
certainly be the two potentially explosive fixtures on Sunday, which
involves the top four teams in Premier 1: DPMM FC hosting AH United at
the Jerudong Mini stadium, while ABDB entertains Wijaya at the
Penanjong Camp stadium.
Early in round 1 of the Premier 1,
DPMM FC were beaten 2-0 by AH United - their one and only defeat so
far - before they embarked on an unbeaten run, and have remained
undefeated ever since.
The game against AH United is a good
platform for their new Croat striker Dalibor Filipovic to build on his
impressive debut against QAF FC, when he scored one goal and made the
winner for Goran Vusanovic.
The encounter will also be a personal
battle for the golden boot between Vusanovic and AH United's Md Shah
Razen, both of whom having scored 16 and 14 goals respectively, so
far.
