ATM Theft Among Crimes Last Week

Bandar Seri Begawan - Theft at an Automated Telling Machine (ATM) was among the criminal cases recorded last week in the country, the police said yesterday.

It was one of the four theft cases reported last week along with two theft cases at a flat in Rimba and Jln Kecil in Kg Bekiau. Items reported stolen included cash amounting to $1,000, a "mini-motor", a CD player, a CD changer and a telephone cable.

One case of car break-in and theft was recorded whereby a mobile phone was stolen. A black Toyota Corona was also reported missing.

Meanwhile, four cases of theft inside a building were recorded at a mosque in Tutong, a department store in Jln Muara, at the Mall in Gadong and a building in Jln Maharaja Lela in Kuala Belait. Items reported missing included cash totalling $53, two electrical transformers and a mobile phone.

Two cases of criminal breach of trust, four fraud cases, two cases of causing injuries to a person, two vandalism cases, one violation of Custom Act case as well as one Immigration case involving a foreign worker were also recorded. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
