Indonesia's 60th Independence Day
anniversary was celebrated in festive spirit last night during a
reception held at the International Convention Centre in Berakas. The
function also marked the occasion of the 21st Anniversary of the
republic's diplomatic ties with Brunei Darussalam, established when
the sultanate achieved its own independence in 1984.
Present as guest of honour at the
reception was the Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Dato Paduka Awg Hj
Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Mohd Yussof.
The guest of honour was greeted on
arrival by the Charge D' Affaires of Indonesia to Brunei, Mr Bachrun
Subardjo, before making their way to the Main Conference Hall of the
International Convention Centre. The celebration began with a cake
cutting ceremony. A 'doa' was later read to mark the auspicious
occasion.
The function was attended by at least
300 guests comprising high commissioners, ambassador and other members
