Brunei Sultan Weds Former TV3 Newscaster

Kuala Lumpur - Sultan Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah married former TV3 newscaster Azrinaz Mazhar Hakim at a private ceremony here Saturday night.

The New Sunday Times, Sunday reported that the ceremony which was held at 8.30pm Saturday night was attended by family members, relatives and close friends of the couple.

Azrinaz, 26, or fondly known as Naz started her work as a broadcast journalist with TV3 in 1997 after completing her diploma in broadcasting from the Malaysia Institute of Integrative Media (MIIM).

She, who won TV3's Most Promising Journalist Award in 2000 and MIIM Alumni Award in 2002, used to appear on the Buletin Pagi, Berita Terkini and Buletin 1.30.

She quit TV3 in May saying that she wanted to "venture into other undertakings."

Sultan Hassanal, 58, had in February 2003 divorced his second wife, former stewardess Mariam Abdul Aziz.
