Delegation Promotes Fruits From
Taichung Country In Taiwan

Begawan - The representative of Taipei Economic and Culture
Office in Brunei Darussalam, Dr. James Chen yesterday morning hosted a
breakfast for members of the agro-product promotion delegation of
Taichung Country in Taiwan who are in the country to promote the
high-quality fruit produce from Taichung Country for the people of
Brunei.
The function was held at the Taipei
Economic and Cultural office at Jalan Tungku Link, Gadong. It was
attended by representatives from the, Farmers Association of Taichung
Country as well as the Managing Director of First Emporium, Mr. Kian
S. Lim along with other senior staff members.
The thirty-member delegation from
Taiwan was led by Dr Chang Chung Hs I, Deputy Magistrate of Taiwan
Country, Government.
Dr. Chang Chung Hs I said the
objective of the trip to Brunei was to introduce the beauty of
Taichung Country to Bruneians and at the same time to promote the
high-quality and pesticide-free fruits from Taiwan.
A variety of fruits such as pears and
grapes and vegetables such as king oyster mushroom and golden mushroom
are now available at the First Emporium Supermarket.
"The high yield as well as the best
quality is ideal for export to commit the high living standard in
Brunei," he said.
The farmers in Taichung Country have
developed new planting techniques and modified varieties and have
successfully produced different fruits of the highest quality at the
farmland which is free from contamination.
During the Fruit Fair held at the
Empire Hotel and Country Club, invited guests have the opportunity to
taste and sample the fruits.
Managing Director of First Emporium
Mr. Kian S. Lim said Taiwan has been famous worldwide as a "Fruit
Kingdom", which produces different fruits of excellent quality all
year around. He said the First Emporium Groups will continue to import
fruits from Taiwan for Brunei customers.
The fruits from Taiwan are also
popular in Japan, US, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Europe. The
delegation also had the opportunity to visit several places of
interest in the country. --
