St James Launches Green Programme

Bandar Seri Begawan - St James's School of Kuala Belait launched a recycling programme on Thursday. It is one of the four schools that have been selected to run the pilot programme on recycling.

The programme is implemented in line with OGDC's exhibition entitled "Caring for the Environment" in which recycling will be the main theme.

The project is supported by OGDC with the help of STEP, HSE, Dua-o-Dua, CIC and the High Commission of Canada in Brunei.

Under the project, each of the four schools is given three recycling bins in green, blue and dark grey for paper, plastic and aluminum cans respectively.

At the launching ceremony, the school principal, Mohd Ali bin Hj Ahrnad, delivered the welcome speech while Iskandar bin Hj Alias, Head of Operations of OGDC explained the mechanics and details of the project.

The marketing executive of Dua-o-Dua Sdn Bhd, Awg John Ray A. Dangilan and Dyg Judy Mah, the Accounts/Administration Officer of CIC were also present at the function.

At the function, they gave a demonstration on how to dispose waste materials properly in the respective recycling bins and the students followed by doing so with lots of enthusiasm. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
