The SK Knights from the Korean
Basketball League will be hoping to make it two wins out of two for
their country in next week's 5th Shell Rimula Cup - Brunei Basketball
Tournament.
Hoping to emulate their compatriots
the TG Xers, who were last year's champions, the SK Knights are loaded
with talent and will want to make sure that the crown remains in their
country.
The SK Knights may be quite new
having been established in 1997 but their pedigree should not be
underestimated as their core players are all national team stalwarts.
Having suffered a bit due to most of
their players having had to report to national military service, the
SK Knights are confident that they will once again be title contenders
following a series of successful trades in this off-season.
This may only be the second year that
a Korean team has been invited to participate in this prestigious
tournament but they have certainly made their presence well known as
they look to continue this winning streak. Along with the five other
teams in the tournament in Toshiba Bravethunders from Japan, Shangdong
Jinsidun Lions from China, IBL All-Stars from Indonesia and the two
Filipino PBA teams, this year's tournament is set to be even more
spectacular than ever.
Having received international
recognition, this tournament has put Brunei on the basketball map as
more and more countries are taking notice of the ability of such a
small country to host an event of this size and magnitude.
The SK Knights will play their first
match on Saturday August 20 against China's Shangdong Jinsidun Lions.
Their team lineup is :- Hwang Jin
Won, Richard Han, Lim Jae Hyun, Lim Jung Hoon, Lim Hyo Sung, Chun Hee
Chul, Cho Sang Hyun, Kom Il Doo, Lee Jung Lae, Seo Dong Yong, Huh Nam
Young, Park Jae Hyun, Kang Yun Sik, Wesley Wilson.
