SBK 2005 Reaches Climax

Begawan - The final of the Suara Bintang Keputeraan (SBK) 2005
will unfold with a bang at the JPCC Amphitheatre tomorrow night, where
the winner will be selected-by SMS votes.
Some 14 aspiring singers will stretch
their vocal chords to prove their singing worthiness in their attempt
to win the hearts of their fans.
The SBK 2005 is a premier contest
that has been instrumental in unearthing local recording artistes.
Fans have been voting for their
favourite contestants via SMS since July 25.
The SMS voting will end August 12,
after the last finalist delivers her final song at the concert.
To vote, fans need to key in 'sbk
(name of singer)' and send the text messages to 8885555. Fans can cast
unlimited votes, where they will be charged 50 cents per SMS. -
The 14 finalists - Izul, Salfa, Aming,
Amal, Yuz, Neesa, Y ura, Leen, Sam, Rina, Jam, Neena, Dayat and Has -
can also be heard on Radio Kristal FM, hence allowing the public to
decided which contestant reigns supreme.
Organised
by Kristal FM and Soundbox Events, the second SBK 2005 is sponsored by
Power Root Alicafe and Setia Motors Sdn Bhd.
According to a spokesperson of the
organising committee, apart from the 14 finalists, local singers such
as SBK 2004 Champion Rafiz and SBK 2004 Finalist Maria will be present
to entertain the crowd.
Tickets priced at $5 a piece can be
purchased by calling 8816888 or 8619991.
Fans can also purchase tickets at the
entrance of the JPCC Amphitheatre, which will open at 5.30 pm.
The 14 finalists will be accompanied
by backing musicians DRS Band. The winner will walk away with a $1,000
cash prize, challenge trophy, complimentary 2D/IN stay at the Empire
Hotel and Country Club, and a trophy.
Meanwhile, the runner-up will receive
a $600 cash prize, food vouchers for four at the Empire Hotel arid
Country Club, and a trophy. The third place winner will receive $400
and a trophy. --
