Syabu Man Fined $1,200

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 32-year-old Bruneian was fined $1,200 or three months imprisonment in default by the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday after he pleaded guilty to consuming Methyl amphetamine or locally known as "Syabu".

The defendant, Shamsul bin Abd Rahman, who is a first offender of section 6(b) of the Misuse of Drugs Act, was arrested on March 4, 2002 by several antinarcotic officers who raided his house in Kampong Panchor Papan, Tutong.

The Narcotics Control Bureau Prosecuting Officer, Noryani bte Haji Yusof said the defendant would appear again in court on October 5 this year pending to the result of another urine test. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
