Sultan’s 59th Birthday
Celebrations Conclude

Begawan – The national flag lowering ceremony was held
yesterday morning at the open courtyard of the Yayasan Sultan Haji
Hassanal Bolkiah Fountain in the capital, marking the end of His
Majesty's 59th Birthday celebrations nationwide.
Personnel of the Royal Brunei Navy,
Royal Brunei Armed Forces lowered down the gigantic national flag
measuring 24 feet by 12 feet that flew atop the 100-foot high flagpole
throughout the celebrations.
The flag was lowered down slowly in
synchronisation with the tune of national anthem being sung by choir
groups from the Language and Literature Bureau and several schools.
The national flag was then folded and
handed over for safekeeping to the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs,
Pehin Dato Paduka Awg Hj Dani bin Hj Ibrahim, the deputy co-chairman
of the National Committee for His Majesty's 59th Birthday Celebrations
and chairman of the National Flag Hoisting Committee.
The flag was first hoisted July 1 at
the same venue to mark the commencement of His Majesty's 59th Birthday
celebrations throughout the country. --
