Local Fined $3,000 For Consuming Drugs

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 47-year-old local was fined $3,000 or six months' jail in default after he pleaded guilty to two charges of consuming a Class A drug.

According to DPP Christopher Ng, the defendant, identified as Maslan bin Sukaimi, earlier denied both charges of consuming Methyl amphetamine but later changed his plea towards both charges and was convicted last week.

He was arrested on April 23 and August 23, 2003 during a raid at the same house in Kg Tanah Jambu. No drug related items were found in the premises but later, a urine sample of the defendant was taken and tested positive for the said drug on both occasions. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
