Youth Rehab Centre Ready By March 2006

Bandar Seri Begawan - A ceremony to lay the concrete foundation of a new Youth Rehabilitation Centre for Boys and Girls of the Community Development Department was held yesterday morning at Kampung Belimbing, Subok.

The $16,688,000.00 centre is being built under the 8`f` National Development Plan, which is part of the government's efforts to look after the welfare of less fortunate youths.

The new centre is expected to be completed in March 2006. The construction works commenced on September 28, 2004.

The chief guest was Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Pehin Major General (R) Dato Awg Haji Mohammad bin Haji Daud, who led the concrete foundation laying ceremony followed by Permanent Secretary at the Ministry, Awg Haji Jemat bin Haji Ampal, Director of Community Development Department, Datin Hjh Adina binti Othman as well as other senior officers at the ministry.

The minister viewed a model of the new centre and also heard a briefing from the project consultant.

The centre will be equipped with facilities such as administrative office, multi-purpose hall, dining hall, recreation hall, surau, workshop as well as dormitory for boys and girls.
