Rifle And Bullet Man Whipped And Jailed

Bandar Seri Begawan - A Bruneian man was sentenced to six years and six months jail and ordered six strokes of the cane by the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday for illegally having a rifle and ammunition.

Haji Sulaisah bin Hj Masri, was convicted of a charge of having an unlicensed rifle, which is an offence punishable under the Arms and Explosives Rules of the Arms and Explosives Act.

He was also convicted of having ammunition consisting of three blank bullets and four copper bullets. The court heard he had no licence.

He was charged with having them on January 20 last year near Bukit Mambarong, Kampong Lumapas, near the Brunei capital.
