Mega Concert In KB

Kuala Belait –
Another groundbreaking event in the Belait District in
conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang diPertuan Negara
Brunei Darussalam 59`1' birthday, celebration is the free mega
concert, ' Gemerlapan 59,' to expose local talents in the company of
renowned Malaysian artistes Saiful Apek and Yassin.
The concert tomorrow night, Sunday,
Aug. 7, will be held at 8pm in Padang Bandaran Kuala Belait. It will
feature 13 homegrown artists comprising three winners of Suara Bintang
Keputeraan, Passport 2 Fame, KB Idol and Hidden Stars and the first
place winner of Battle Of the Bands announced on July 31.
Two popular Indonesian singers who
participated in the Dangdut Indonesia Contest and Akademi Fantasia
Indonesia are also expected to perform during the mega concert.
The opening act will be by D'Swan
Dancers. There will be special choreographed dance performances by BSP
and the Eagle Dancers, a dance group comprised of Belait youths.
The grand concert is organised by the
Belait District National Committee of His Majesty 59t birthday
celebration as a gift to the Belait population. It is expected to draw
at least 20,000 people like in the previous years, said the Chairman
Dr Haji Harun bin Mokti.
There will be over 20 celebration
stalls during the night and three giant screens with high tech sound
systems for spectators unable to get close and view the performances
on stage.
Dr Hj Harun also advised the public
to show up early to watch the concert. He stressed security will be
tight with the present of police, fire service and safety control
personnel.
Die hard fans who wish to personally
meet the Malaysia artistes for autograph and a get-together can turn
up at A1 Ma'aarij Restaurant in Bangunan Hj Hassan Jalan Jaya Negara
Kuala Belait for 'Meet the Fan Session' from 9 am to 12 noon on
Sunday, August 7. Vouchers for the close encounter with the artistes,
including light refreshments, cost $5 for adults and $4 for children.
The restaurant, serving local dishes,
will be temporarily closed at the stated time and will resume
operation the next day. Restaurant manager Awg Hj Dollah bin Mudin
said seats are limited to 75 people.
Traffic will be congested and the
public is urged to cooperate and abide with rules and regulations on
the day of the mega concert. --
