Brunei, Malaysia Minister Hold Meeting

Bandar Seri Begawan – The courtesy call and ministerial level meeting in the field of information and broadcasting between the Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Paduka Awg Hj Adanan and Minister of Information Malaysia Dato'Sri Abdul Kadir Haji Sheikh Fadzir was held yesterday at the Empire Hotel and Country Club in Jerudong.

Present at the closed-door meeting were Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister Office, Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Ismail, Director of Information, Awg. Haji Bujang bin Haji Masu'ut as well as senior officials from both countries.

At the meeting, both ministers believed although the peoples of both countries already have close and friendly relations, these should be strengthen further by giving more exposure to their cultures and ways of life so more understanding and easier interaction can be obtained.

Both ministers basically agreed to hold drama series produced jointly by their countries to show the aspects and the way of life of their peoples for broadcast on each country's national television stations.

Both ministers and officials visited the Royal Concert Performance venue at the Jerudong Park Amphitheatre.

The Malaysian Information Minister and delegation arrived yesterday for the Joint Technical Committee Meeting under the Memorandum of Understanding in information and broadcasting between the two countries.

The MoU on information and broadcasting cooperation was first signed on February 14, 1992 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Malaysian delegation from Malaysia visited the famous Water Village, Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and witnessed the Royal Concert of RTB/ RTM at Jerudong Park Amphitheatre.

The Malaysian minister's delegation consisted of 27 senior government officers of the Information Ministry including officers from Radio Televisyen Malaysia, Information Department and Bernama.
