Standard Chartered Opens New
Branch In Kuala Belait
By Liza Mohd
Kuala Belait –
More than 50 guests comprising senior government and BSP
officials as well as valued customers attended the launching of
Standard Chartered Bank's new branch located at the first floor of
Swiss Hotel in Kuala Belait yesterday morning.
Present as Chief Guest to officiate
the ceremony was Belait District Officer Dato PadukaAwang Haji Yussop
bin Bakar.
The ceremony commenced with the
recital of Al-Fatihah followed by a welcoming speech by SCB Chief
Executive Officer, Ms Shalini Warrier, who said she believed that the
new location would make the branch more accessible to customers.
She recalled how SCB had started in
1958 by executing basic transactions from a mobile bank in the heart
of town with only 20 employees. Now it has seven branches in the
country and over 250 employees.
Previously, the bank's Belait branch
launched its operations to cater for the expanding BSP community,
providing only basic deposit accounts services to BSP and their
employees. Today, the branch provides a complete range of financial
products and services from basic deposit products to complicated
wealth management options like unit trusts and Premium Currency
Deposits.
However, feedback from customers
indicated that KB branch was not located in a convenient place and
taking the feedback into account, the bank took the opportunity to
redesign the branch in a bid to provide more space for customer
interaction, the bank's CEO said in her speech.
"The new branch design is moving away
from the traditional banking ‘feel’ and ‘look’, providing customers
with the convenience of completing their banking transactions in a
comfortable manner, secure in the knowledge that their interactions
with the staff would be conducted in a manner conducive to
confidentiality.
"The branch's new design is in line
with our international image and similar to the branches we have in
Gadong, Bunut, Tutong, Lambak and Main branches. The branch also has a
specially dedicated centre for our Priority Banking customers," she
said. --
