Brunei Wushu Exponents Win Bagful
Of Medals

Begawan - Six wushu exponents from the Sultanate participating
in the Qingchunbao Cup Zhejiang International Wushu Tournament 2005
returned home Wednesday evening after winning many medals.
In group 1 of the tournament, Lim Ee
Tyng won gold in two events; taijijian and taijiquan; Isa bin Bismi
won gold in non-sword event and bronze medals in nanquan and
non-stick.
Ismi
bin Bismi won silvers in nanquan and silver in non-stick and Hj
Zurairi Dato Hj Talib won gold in shaolin series.
Ismi
also won 4th placing in the non-sword event.
In group 2, Tan Peng Hong won gold in
four events - non-stick, taiji quan, taiji sabre and taiji sword while
his brother Tan Peng Hui won silver in non-sword and bronze in nanquan.
Lim Kee Soon, the Vice Chairman of
the Wushu Federation of Brunei Darussalam (WFBD) said all the local
exponents managed to win medals as a result of their intensive fiveday
training with the Guangdong Wushu Association.
"I must say as a result of the
intensive training in Guangdong, the boys learned a lot and managed to
win many medals.
They are now ready for SEA Games this
December in the Philippines if selected by the nation to represent the
country, he said.
The exponents said they are now
hoping to win selections for the 24th SEA Games.
"We competed against good teams from
13 countries like China, Hong Kong, US, Australia and Japan.
Lim Kee Soon thanked the Brunei
Government through the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, for the
full sponsor to participate in the meet.
The 24th SEA Games will be held in
the Philippines from Nov 27 to Dec 5 where Emilio Aguinaldo College in
Manila City is the venue for wushu. --
