Job Seekers Armed With Confidence
By Cedrina Norlaila Abd
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Close to 50 job seekers yesterday attended a course
aimed at preparing participants for jobs - especially in the private
sector. The course was organised by the Career Resource Centre,
Ministry of Education.
Self-resilience and the readiness to
work according to shifts and long hours are important attributes.
The ability to work long enough in a
particular establishment would ensure continuity of tasks and
responsibilities.
Training stints organised by the
employers would be cost-effective if there is a low turnover amongst
the employees.
These were some of the pointers that
were brought to the attention of the participants.
The day saw several papers presented.
In addition; course organiser Dr Ee
Ah Meng spoke of the ways in which to project oneself during a job
interview.
Besides proper attire, the ability to
communicate effectively and display the proper attitude is assets that
prospective employers look for. Readiness to go the extra mile is yet
another important attribute, he said.
Later, Awg Moksin Hj Omar enlightened
participants about the positive attitude of a good worker.
Determination and perseverance are important qualities that were
emphasised on.
According to participant Abu Bakar
bin Hj Salihi, the course was both lively and enlightening, arming him
with greater confidence to face future job interviews.
A course of this nature would go a
long way to help increase employability of job seekers.
Being better prepared and having a
proper mind set, job-seekers would most likely land themselves a job
in a shorter period of time, said Dr Ee. --
