Sultan Attends State Funeral For
King Fahd
Riyadh -
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam
Tuesday arrived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the state funeral ceremony
of His Majesty King Fahd, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
The funeral ceremony was preceded by
the 'solat jenazah' (funeral prayer), RTB reported.
On arrival at the Royal Air Base,
Riyadh, His Majesty was received by His Royal Highness Prince Sattam
ibn Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, the Deputy Governor of the Riyadh Region, and
other senior officials from Saudi Arabia.
Also on hand to receive His Majesty
was Awg Hj Mohammad Bahrain bin Dato Paduka Awg Hj Abu Bakar, Charge
de Affaires at the Embassy of Brunei Darussalamin Saudi Arabia, and
staff of the Embassy.
The `solat jenazah' was held after
the 'Asr prayer, which was held at the Iman Turki bin Abdullah Mosque
at Deira Area in Riyadh. To receive His Majesty at the Iman Turki bin
Abdullah Mosque was His Royal Highness Prince Salman ibn Abdul 'Aziz
Al-Saud, the Governor of the Riyadh Region.
Immediately after performing the 'Asr
prayer, His Majesty joined other world Muslim leaders in performing
the `solat jenazah' for His Majesty King Fahd ibn Abdul 'Aziz Al-Saud.
Accompanying His Majesty the Sultan
and Yang DiPertuan of Brunei Darussalatn was His Royal Highness Prince
Mohamed Bolkiah, Foreign Minister of Brunei Darussalam.
His Majesty left for Bandar Seri
Begawan Tuesday night. Before leaving the hotel where His Majesty was
residing, a doa selamat was read by Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato
Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Awg Hj Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti. -- Courtesy of Borneo
