RNZIR, RBLF In Joint Military
Training

Begawan - One hundred and two personnel from `B' Company 2/1
Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment (2/1 RNZIR), based at Burnham Camp
in Christchurch, are currently in the Sultanate for a joint military
training called Exercise "Crossed Swords 2005" with the Third
Battalion Royal Brunei Land Force (3Bn RBLF).
The training which commenced on July
19, will end on August 7.
The exercise is a familiarisation
training for 2/1 RNZIR personnel to gather knowledge and experience
while operating in tropical weather and terrain.
Apart from that, it is also an
opportunity for them to learn Brunei's culture and visit the country's
famous places such as Royal Regalia, Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah
Foundation Complex and Kg Ayer as
well as the chance to seethe celebrations and activities taking place
in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of
Brunei Darussalam's 59' birthday.
Meanwhile, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major
General Dato Paduka Seri Hj Awg Halbi bin Hj Md Yussof, Commander
RBAF, yesterday paid a visit to the field during the Jungle Training
phase at Meriam Jungle Training Camp in Temburong.
On arrival, the Commander RBAF was
greeted with a "Hakka" performance by 2/1 RNZIR personnel.
During the visit, Commander RBAF,
along with Lt Col Hj Jol Jublee ND Maj Justin de Haye, also saw the
basic combat tactics demonstrations. --
