Minister Attends AMCA Meeting In
Bangkok

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Minister of
Culture, Youth and Sports, Pehin Major General (Rtd) Dato Seri
PahlawanAwang Haji Mohammad bin Haji Daud, left for Bangkok yesterday
morning to attend the Second Meeting of the Asean Senior Officials and
Ministers Responsible for Culture and Arts (SOMCA/ AMCA + 3).
The meeting will take place today and
will continue tomorrow. Awang Haji Jemat bin Haj i Ampal, Permanent
Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sports who is also in
Bangkok represented Brunei Darussalam in the Senior Officials -meeting
which took place yesterday.
Apart from Brunei Darussalam and
itsAsean neighbours, China, Japan and Korea also make up the
additional number of countries participating as dialogue partners.
AMCA
was formed in March 2003 during the 38thAsean Committee of Culture and
Information meeting in Brunei Darussalam.
This year's round of talks are a
continuation of the first sessions of dialogue and look to enhance
ties amongst Asean and its dialogue partners in the development of the
region.
Among the agendas that will be
discussed in the Second AMCA meeting are a host of issues concerning
the cultural sector such as operational guidelines; human resource
development, and trade liberalisation while also enhancing Asean
Cultural Week.
In conjunction with the Second AMCA
meeting, Brunei Darussalam's Cultural Performance delegation will also
be attending the 2nd Asean Festival of Arts, which will take place
from August 1 to 10. --
