Baiduri Bank contributes $20,290
to Special Olympics

Begawan - Baiduri Bank Berhad recently contributed $20,290 to
the Special Olympics Asia-Pacific Bocce Competition 2005 at the
closing event of the Special Olympics Torch Run.
HRH Princess 'Azemah Ni'matul Bolkiah,
as a patron of the Brunei Darussalam Special Olympics, consented to
receive the contribution on behalf of the committee from Senior Deputy
General Manager of Baiduri Bank Philippe Petitier.
The contribution - part of ongoing
initiatives by Baiduri Bank to support special individuals - will
assist the committee in providing meal for athletes and working
committee members throughout the period of the event as well as in
funding for the medals for the winners, according to the bank.
Baiduri
Bank has been an active contributor towards educational programmes,
projects and events organised by welfare bodies such as Pusat Ehsan,
Child Development Centre and Society for the Management ofAutism-Related
Issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei.
The bank's annual event, Baiduri Bank
Charity Golf Tournament, also provides a platform for golfing
enthusiasts while raising funds for charity organisations.
The Special Olympics Asia-Pacific
Bocce Competition 2005 will be held at the Hassanal Bolkiah National
Stadium August 12-14.
The sporting event is expected to
attract over 150 special athletes from Bangladesh, Thailand,
Philippines, Malaysia, and Brunei. --
