His Majesty Sends Condolence

Begawan - His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei
Darussalam yesterday consented to send a condolence message to His
Majesty King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz AlSaud, the custodian of the two
holy mosques, following the demise of his brother, Al-Marhum King Fahd
bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
In his message, His Majesty expressed
his heartfelt sadness as experienced by the people of Saudi Arabia
following the demise of King Fahd. The demise is a great loss to those
who know him.
His Majesty expressed his personal
sympathy as well as from the government and people of Brunei to His
Majesty King Abdullah and members of Saudi Arabia's royal family and
deepest condolences to the people of Saudi Arabia.
His Majesty also said that Al-Marhum
King Fahd was an astounding and respected person and as a Head of
State he made significant contributions towards the welfare of the
Middle East people and the entire Muslim Ummah.
The contributions made by Al-Marhum
King Fahd to the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) is
highly applauded, said His Majesty. His demise is a great loss and
will be felt in the regional and international affairs, added His
Majesty.
King Fahd died Monday after a long
period of ill health.
His half-brother Crown Prince
Abdullah was swiftly anointed his successor and powerful Defence
Minister Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz was chosen as crown prince of
the Gulf kingdom.
Medical sources said King Fahd,
believed to be aged 84, died in hospital at dawn. --
