By Achong Tanjong

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Brunei Darussalam Motorcycles Association (PEMODA) will play host to the White Club (motorcycle club) from Indonesia on August 14.

The Indonesian group comprising 60 members, who will be riding 30 big bikes such as Harley Davidsons, Hondas and BMWs, will join PEMODA members in participating in a bike show at The Mall, Gadong on the same day at 2 pm.

Hj. Abu Bakar bin Hj. Md. Asrad, President of PEMODA, said the visit is organised in conjunction with Indonesia's Independence Day that falls on August 17.

It is aimed at fostering closer cooperation and understanding between PEMODA members and the Indonesian riders. Their visit is also expected to strengthen ties between the people of both countries. They will also tour places of interest in the country.

The Indonesian bikers will start riding their big bikes from Jakarta, board a ferry to Pontianak, and continue their ride to Kuching, Miri and finally Brunei. The journey from Pontianak to Brunei will cover more than 1,000 km.

When they reach Sungai Tujoh Control Post, the Indonesian big bikers will be escorted by PEMODA members to the CentrePoint Hotel in Gadong.

Hj. Abu Bakar urged PEMODA members to wait at Sungai Tujoh Control Post to welcome the Indonesian delegation. PEMODA has about 400 members. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
