Foreign Minister Launches Sunken
Treasures Of Brunei In Australia
Canberra –
His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed Bolkiah, the Minister of
Foreign Affairs, and Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Isteri Pengiran Anak
Hajah Zariah who are on an official visit to Australia, made a
courtesy call on the Governor-General Michael Jeffery and Mrs. Marlena
Jeffery at the Government House in Canberra yesterday.
Mr. Jeffery was sworn in as the 24th
Governor-General of Australia in
August 2003.
Last night, the Prince officially
launched an exhibition of the Sunken Treasures of Brunei Darussalam at
the National Museum of Australia in Canberra.
On Monday night, the Prince met Mr.
Alexander Downer, the Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, at
Parliament House in Canberra.
During the meeting, the Prince and
the Minister discussed ways to strengthen relations between Brunei and
Australia and exchanged views on regional and international matters.
Shortly after that, the Prince
attended a dinner hosted by Mr. Downer.
In his speech, the Prince expressed
gratitude to Mr Downer for the great efforts he had personally made
over the past eight years in working together closely with countries
in this region and for the support the Minister and the Australian
people had given to Brunei's own development programmes.
Mr.
Downer has been Australia's Foreign Minister since March 1996.
