Brunei Malaysia MilitaryTies Strengthened

Kuala Belait - Brunei and Malaysia military relations have been further strengthened with a visit of a high ranking officer and the just concluded joint military exercise.

The Deputy Minister of Defence Pengiran Retired Major General Haji Ibnu Basith yesterday morning received a courtesy call from the commander of the Malaysian Field Army, Lieutenant General Dato Abdul Aziz Bin Haji Zainal.

Lieutenant General Dato Abdul Aziz also paid similar call on Pehin Major General Dato Haji Awang Halbi the commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces. The Commander of Field Army of Malaysia and delegation are in the country to attend the closing of the joint military exercise.between First Battalion of the Royal Brunei Land Force and Company C Fifteen Malay Regiment of Malaysia.

The Commander of The Royal Brunei Armed Forces last Tuesday had a closer look at the military exercise between Brunei and Malaysia, codenamed 'Brumal Setia 06/03'.

The military maneuver was conducted at kampong Ulu Merangking in the Belait district.

Pehin Major General Dato Haji Awang Halbi was welcomed at the site by Lieutenant Colonel Haji Awang Yusof Bin Haji Abdul Rahman. the Commanding Officer First Battalion Royal Brunei Land Forces

The Malaysian Armed Forces officers briefed the commander on the tactical battle plan of attacking enemy positions yesterday.

The jungle warfare military exercise aimed at enhancing the skills and experience of the personnel involved in the tactics of fighting and survival in a different environment.

The commander also visited members of the Royal Brunei Land Force participated in the military exercise.

The commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and delegation then took an hour drive to the battalion tactical headquarters, seven kilometers away. At the site the commander toured the base facility area.

Meanwhile, The bilateral exercise between the first battalion, Royal Brunei Land Forces and Company 'C' Of 15th Royal Malay Regiment, which started on July 11, came to an end yesterday.

The exercise concluded with a battalion assault on the enemy positions. The chief guests the Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Forces Colonel Dato Paduka Haji Abdur Rahmani and Malaysian Field Army Commander, Lieutenant General Dato Abdul Aziz, witnessed the final attack.

The highlight of the event was the handing over of flag and the closing ceremony of the exercise by Lieutenant General Dato Abd Aziz.

Apart from strengthening the existing relationship between the two countries armed force, the exercise was also to upgrade the army’s skills to the outmost and familiarise themselves with training operation procedure. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
