A clean, beautiful environment whether it be at home or a public place is not just something to be proud of but a source
of attraction for foreign tourists to visit our country.
Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hjh Saleha made this remark yesterday during the prize presentation of the
Flowers Exhibition, Cleaning Competition and Landscape Design held at the International Convention Centre.
The event was organised by the Women's Council of Brunei in conjunction with His Majesty's 54th birthday
celebration.
Her Majesty was accompanied to the ceremony by Her Royal Highness Princess Hjh Masna, Her Royal Highness
Princess Hjh Umi Kalthum Al-Islam and Her Royal Highness Princess Hjh Norehsani.
Her Majesty also viewed an audio-visual presentation on cleaning and landscape design. The chairwoman of the
ceremony, Hjh Marhani bte Abd Latif, gave a welcoming speech.
Her Majesty, in her titah, said, "The authorities' efforts to have a clean, beautiful environment are ongoing. This is
because a beautiful, clean environment will enhance the quality of life."
Her Majesty added that it was also our responsibility to keep the country clean because a clean, beautiful country
showed the people's concern for their surroundings.
In addition, environmental pollution affects the country's image. Her Majesty said the efforts that were made,
particularly at the event, would create motivation and more awareness of the importance of having a clean, healthy
lifestyle.
There were different types of flower categories at the event such as mixed flower decorations, orchid decorations,
bonsai and cactus.
