Sultan Visits Military Facilities

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang DiPertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday continued his State Visit in Kuwait by touring military facilities at 35'h AlShaheed (Martyrs) Armour Brigade and went horse-riding.

In the morning, His Majesty visited the Brigade Facilities, which is located 90 kilometres from Kuwait City. Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Lt Gen. Fand Amir, Chief of Staff of the Kuwait Armed Forces.

From a special stage, His Majesty received the salute of the guard of honour mounted by the 35'h Al-Shaheed (Martyrs) Armour Brigade. After the national anthem of Brunei Darussalam was played, His Majesty inspected the guard of honour.

His Majesty accompanied by Lt Gen. Fand Amir then viewed a static display on various types of tanks and military armoured vehicles on an open-

top four-wheel drive.

His Majesty then proceeded to the Training Facilities Building where the monarch received a briefing and video presentation on the facilities provided at the Brigade. His Majesty was given a demonstration on the use of computerised tactical training and tank simulator as a mans of training the armour unit personnel and observed closely military tanks on display.

Before concluding the visit to the 35'h Al-Shaheed (Martyrs) Armour Brigade Facilities, His Majesty was invited to the Officers' Mess where His Majesty was greeted by Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak AI-Hamad Al-Sabah, Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Minister-in-Attendance and other senior officers of the Armour Brigade.

His Majesty was presented with souvenirs by Sheikh Jaber Al-MubarakAlHamad Al-Sabah, Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Defence. In return, His Majesty presented Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah with a military plaque.

In the afternoon, His Majesty went for horse-riding at Hunting and Equestrian Club where the monarch was greeted by Sheikh Dhari Fand Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Chairman of the Club.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
