Schools should build ties with
community, parents
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Schools should build up relations with the
community, especially the parents, as their cooperation will ensure
a much more improved learning and teaching environment.
This was raised by the Ministry of
Religious Affairs Acting Permanent Secretary, Dato Paduka Hj Ishaaq
Hj Abdullah, during a school visit yesterday.
In working together, teachers and
parents can also identify the students' potential and help them act
on and make' full use of that potential, he said.
The ministry has been visiting
religious schools throughout the country to find out the needs and
requirements of the students.
The latest school to be inspected
was the Batu Marang Religious School in Jalan Kota Batu.
The acting permanent secretary was
joined by other ministry officials.
The delegation was welcomed by the
school principal, Zahrah; Hj Mhd Hussin, and Hjh Fatimah Hj Abdul
Ghani, the assistant director of Islamic Education.
The visit began with a briefingby
the school principal, who pointed out the direction of the school,
its organisational structure, academic planning and achievements,
teaching staff development and activities.
The briefing also touched on the 3K
system, which focuses on the school's cleanliness, health and
appearance, including the Mirhadh, or clean-toilet programme, which
was adapted by the school since it was introduced late last year.
This was followed by a question and
answer session between the acting permanent secretary and teachers
and staff.
During the discussions, the acting
permanent secretary responded to the issues raised by the staff such
as their efforts in raising the academic achievement of students,
especially in the primary-six examinations, and the use of new
textbooks.
Dato Hj Ishaaq also said that the
ministry will be and has been fully supporting the 3K and Mirhadh
programmes, and the academic excellence drive initiated by the
schools. -- Courtesy of
