Bandar Seri Begawan - As continuation of their working visit, three senior officials from Malaysia's Department of Wakaf, Zakat and Haji (Jawhar) yesterday met with peers from Brunei's Haji Affairs Department to .exchange views on matters relating to haji.

Led by Abdul Ghafar Yusof, deputy director-general of Jawhar, the delegates, who are on a three-day working visit, were briefed on the tasks and responsibilities of the Haji Affairs Department.

On hand to greet the delegation at the Haji Affairs Department building was Pg Hj Mustapa Pg Hj Aliudin, Haji Affairs Department acting director, along with officers and staff at the department.

The guests were briefed on the history of the Haji Affairs Department, its organisational structure, roles and responsibilities of each section in the department, as well as on its functions as the agency that monitors the pilgrimage journey in Brunei.

"Even though we had more experience in dealing with haji affairs longer than Brunei, it does not mean that it is any better, there are always aspects in which we can still learn from this visit," said Abdul Ghafar of Jawhar.

He added that there were still some aspects in which they could learn from Brunei. He said he hopes to make more visits to exchange views and ideas.

He reminded those present during the visit to observe the general policies carried out by the department.
