Islamic Council Hosts Visit

Begawan - Three senior officials from Malaysia's Department
of Wakaf, Zakat and Haji (Jawhar) met their Brunei counterparts to
discuss and exchange views on matters in managing core regulations
relating to wakaf and haji yesterday.
Led by Abdul Ghafar Yusof, deputy
director-general of Jawhar, the delegates who are on a three-day
working visit, were briefed on the tasks and responsibilities of
Brunei Islamic Council and wakaf administration.
Accompanying him were the Wakaf
Director, Mohd Bakri Ibrahim, and Sabarudin Has an, assistant
director-general of haji.
"Even though there are some slight
differences in how we conduct work, the relationship between the two
departments are good," said Pg Hj Bahrom Pg Hj Bahar, Brunei Islamic
Council's secretary.
Hj
Abdul Wahab Hj Sapar, senior religious officer group II, briefed on
the responsibilities of the council, while Assistant Director Hjh
Azlina Pehin Orang Kaya Maharaja Kerna Dato Paduka Seri Hj Ya'akub
gave a presentation on the Tanmiah Harta Majlis Ugama Islam. The
delegation also visited the Islamic Da'wah Centre at Jalan
