29 Theft Cases Recorded In One Week

Bandar Seri Begawan - A total of 29 theft cases were recorded in the past week, the police revealed yesterday.

The items stolen were a 90-hp Mercury boat engine; a car battery; a handbag containing an identity card, a driving licence and an ATM card; two truck batteries, a Nissan Pulsar car; a fish cage; a Suzuki motorcycle; $900 in cash; 128 aluminium doors, steel pipes and 100 telephone cables.

The cases occurred at En Jangsak, Sg Lampai Fire Station, Kg Mata-Mata, Kg Tanjong Nangka, Lorong 3 barracks in Selatan Seria, Pelompong in Muara, Kg Tanah Jambu, Kg Kebia, Jerudong Park and Sg Belais in Temburong.

Other items carted away by thieves were a suitcase, 45 aluminium plates and piping connection materials. The incidents happened at The Empire Hotel and Country Club, airport and PWD in Tasek Lama, said the police.

The police also received reports of the thefts of items such as N73 Nokia phone, an 18-horse power boat engine, three pots of flowers, cash amounting to

$1,000, a $2,500 dollar water leak detector, a personal security book, water tank, Kobelco heavy machine and Hydraulic oil tank.

The cases were reported in Kg Bebatik Kilanas, En Sg Liang, Sg Liang forestry barracks, Kg Mulaut in Limau Manis, ATM in Yayasan, Spg 52-33 in Gadong, Champions 7 oil rig and Kg Pengkalan Mau.

Another four thefts occurred in Kg Perpindahan Lambak Kanan, Sufri Bolkiah teachers' flats in Tutong and Pandan national housing scheme in Belait. Items carted away were a wrist-watch, Adidas shoes and clothes.

The police also received reports of gambling (one), attempted suicide (one), missing teenager (one), adultery (one), nuisance SMS (three), one case of tracing back stolen vehicle, extortion (one), immoral act (one), 17 assaults and three cases of runaway workers.

Other cases included customs case (13) with the arrests of seven men aged in their 20s and 40s as well as two women, immigration cases (six) with the detention of four foreign women and eight men.

The past one week also saw 32 car crashes, 21 self-accidents and three cases of drivers hitting pedestrians which resulted in five minor injury cases. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
