St George's School Wins Maths Fun
Day Race

Begawan - St George's School, represented by BrandonNambiar,
Sia Pik Liang, Ak Md Az-Zubair bin Pg Masri and Sugandha Gurung,
emerged as champion in the Maths Fun Day Race after collecting the
highest points (71 per cent) and defeating 30 other secondary
schools in conjunction with the 16th eXplomaths, which was held at
the PIHM Serasa Secondary School.
Second place went to PSBS Science
College (68 per cent) followed by St Andrew's School with 62 per
cent in third place.
Over 124 students from 31 secondary
schools nationwide participated in the event, which offered cash
prizes and trophies.
The guest of honour who also
presented the prizes and certificates was the Acting Director of the
Co-Curriculum Development, Ministry of Education, Ak Abdullah bin Pg
Hj Tengah.
The ceremony began with the recital
of Surah alFatihah by Ustaz Norazali bin Hj Safar followed by a
speech from the school headmistress, Dyg Lim Siew King.
In the race,
each group was required to send four members from Form One and Two
to guess and solve problems at 15 checkpoints to score points in
order to win the race.
One of the objectives of the race
was to test participants' mental and physical strength in problem
solving in a short period of time. It was also aimed at fostering
