Schools Promoted
By H Bat & Zai
Bandar Seri Begawan - Some 61 army
cadets from 21 high schools all over the country attended the
three-day 1/2008 Promotion Course Series that began April 18 and
each of them was officially promoted yesterday in a marching and
closing ceremony held at the Padang Kawad Askar Simpanan Melayu
Islam Beraja Brunei (ASMDB).
The courses covered first aid,
firearms and counselling that need to be completed before they can
be qualified to move up from Soldadu to Lance Corporal, Lance
Corporal to Corporal and Corporal to Sergeant.
The event's guest of honour,
ASMDB's Commanding Officer Lt Col Mohammad Ismaon Hj Zainie, was on
hand to present the course participants with their promotions.
Yesterday's ceremony commenced with
a recital of the Surah al-Fatihah, followed by a speech from the
guest of honour, who congratulated the cadets.
According to the guest of honour, a
lot of improvements have been seen since the cadet army's formation
back in 1971, particularly at the Ministry of Education and ABDB.
Such improvements, he added, also require some adjustments. Every organisation must have capable members to handle its respective
tasks and among the traits needed is leadership. -- Courtesy of Borneo
