Parents Urged To Set Good Example

Bandar Seri Begawan - Parents and guardians of Batu Marang Primary School yesterday benefitted from a motivational and counselling talk delivered by invited speaker, Cikgu Ali Yusri Abdul Gaphor.

The talked entitled "Anak Siapakan Tu", among others informed parents and guardians of what to do and not to do when educating their children from a young age till adulthood. Cikgu Ali said parents should set a good example to their children in order to, inspire them towards a positive direction in life.

"They should adopt a positive attitude to be well disciplined, to have confidence and to be respectful. Do not show bad characters or traits in front of these children because that could teach them to do the same thing in future.

"If the children have problems at school, the parents should meet up and discuss the matter with teachers. Do not blame the teachers without investigating the facts," he added.

Earlier, in her welcoming speech, Cikgu Farizan Hj Rosli, said the aim of the talk was to motivate parents to encourage their children to develop and progress in studies, as some of them will be sitting for the upcoming PSR exam.

She hoped with the talk, parents and teachers could impart the knowledge to their students and in the process help them improve their examination results.

Present at the talk were school teachers and headmaster, Cikgu Hjh Norliha Hj Matali, as well as a visiting counsellor, Pg Hj Md Yassin. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
