USS Momsen Crewmembers Visit SOAS Primary School
By Azaraimy HH

Bandar Seri Begawan - Several crewmembers of USS Momsen yesterday paid a visit to SOAS Primary School as part of a community initiative called Project Handclasp.

Led by Public Affairs Officer Courtney Thren, the group also contributed toys and books to the students.

SOAS Primary School headmaster Pengiran Osman bin Pengiran Karim said the contributions would complement the school's reading programmes.

"In the school's effort to create a reading culture, there are a variety of initiatives that have been undertaken by the school."

Pengiran Osman also said the programmes are aimed at improving reading skills among the students and encouraging them to take up reading in their quest for knowledge.

Meanwhile, the US Embassy said USS Momsen crewmembers will have the opportunity to visit places of interest in the country during their one-week port call, as well as interact with the locals through various community projects.

Among the activities is the cleaning of drainage at Berakas Recreational Forest today.

There will also be a friendly softball match with local team Gunners on April 19. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
