Reception For Counsellors Of Chinese Embassy

Bandar Seri Begawan - A group of Chinese businessmen yesterday jointly hosted a farewell reception for the outgoing counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Brunei, Huang Xi Lian, and at the same time welcome the incoming counsellor Wang Wen Tian.

The hosts comprised Lim Tiong Tin, Chairman of Overseas Chinese Taipei, Victor Lai from Brunei Building Contractor Association, as well as Lim Koh Phay, Peng Thing Kheo, Lim Ming Siong, Tan San Leong and Yap Thian Hoo. Also present was Embassy Attache' Zhu Lin.

The function was held at Seri Kemayan Restaurant in Jalan Tutong. Huang Xi Lian in his brief speech thanked them for the reception and praised Brunei as a beautiful and peaceful country while highlighting the friendly relations between the Sultanate and China.

He also hopes to see this continued support given to the new counsellor. Huang Xi Lian has been in the country for only nine months and his next posting will be in the US. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
