Tutong Dumpsite Handed Over
By James Kon

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation under the Ministry of Development officially took over the rubbish dumpsite from the Municipal Board of Tutong District following a handing over ceremony yesterday.

The 4.0469-hectare site was handed over to Haji Mohd Zakaria Haji Sarudin, Director of Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation by Haji Daud bin Haji Duraman, Acting Chairman of Tutong Municipal Board.

Both parties signed for the transfer of the rubbish dumpsite at Kilometre Seven, Kampong Bukit Udal, Tutong District.

The move to the new area is to alleviate the discomfort caused by the old dumpsite, 500 metres away, to the road users and members of the public.

Since 2003, the site is managed by the private sector. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
