Six Advances To Finals Of National Al-Quran Recital Competition

Bandar Seri Begawan - After edging out 17 other contestants, three Qari and three Qariah advanced to the finals of the National Al-Quran Recital Competition for Adults 2008 scheduled to be held next month.

The three Qari are Ak Muhammad Adibul Amin bin Pg Haji Marzuki, Awg Hj Muhd Famhie bin Hj Awg Metussin and Awg Mohd Zul Hafiz bin Hj Awg Tengah, while the three Qariah are Dyg Hjh Maidah bte Hj Abdul Rahman, Dyg Hjh 1'l urul Amalina bte Hj Yahya and Dyg Siti Huzzaimah Yadey bte Hj Rosli.

The results were announced yesterday at the Dewan Amar Pahlawan, Ministry of Communications Building where the guest of honour was the Minister of Communications Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Awg Haji Abu Bakar bin Hj Apong.

The finalists will face the champions of last year's competition, Awang Haji Ismail bin Hj Sulaiman in the Qari category, and Dyg Nurfaezah bte Emran in the Qariah category.

The guest of honour also presented souvenirs and certificates of participation to the contestants of the event, which was co-organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Communications. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
