Nurul Akmal, Ar-Raudah Take Top
Spots In 'Dikir'

Begawan - In conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul celebration,
a 'dikir syarafl anam' competition was held at Kolej Universiti
Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPU SB).
Present as guest of honour
was Dr Haji Abdullah bin Haji Awang Lampoh, Deputy Ra'es at Kolej
Universiti Perguruan Ugama. After the Surah al-Fatihah led by Awg
Morsidi bin Haji Awg Tuah, Awg Haji Kairol Amri bin Haji Talipuddin
gave a welcoming speech.
The guest of honour, who gave away
prizes, said the competition was aimed at giving participants of the
`WKU 2103 - kokurikulum: teori dan Konsep,' a practical lesson in
event organizing procedure. It was also hoped the practice of dikir
will be a continuous practice among the graduates from KUPUSB and as
a form of contribution to the Muslim community specifically and
Brunei in general.
After the competition, a Rawi
performance by Awg Muhd Fahmie bin Haj i Awg Metussin entertained
the crowd while the panel of judges led by Ustaz Haji Razak bin
Tahir deliberated their verdicts.
In the men's category, the Nurul
Akmal group came first with their rendition of "Al-Hamd" with a
score of 81.5percent followed by Baitur Rahmah in second and Ash-Shabab
in third place.
In the women's category, Ar-Raudah
clinched the top prize with their performance of "bisyahrin" with a
score of 85.5percent. Second place went to An-Najihah while Hurul
Aini fmished third. The event ended with supplication read by Awg
