Good Hearing-Out At Pelambayan
School

Begawan - The Acting Permanent Secretary of Religious
Affairs, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Ishaaq bin Haji Abdullah, continued
a series of visits to religious schools across the country with a
working visit made yesterday at the Pelambayan Religious School in
Jalan Kota Batu.

Hjh Kasmah bte Hj Siput, Assistant Director of Islamic Education Dyg
Hjh Fatimah bte Haji Abdul Ghani and officers from the Ministry of
Religious Affairs were on hand to greet Dato Paduka Awang Haji
Ishaaq.
Prior to visiting the classrooms,
Dato Paduka Awang Haji Ishaaq officiated the opening of the school's
new library.
Pelambayan
Religious School is situated in Jalan Kota Batu, 5kms from Bandar
Seri Begawan. The school began operation on September 4, 1989, under
the supervision of then principal Cikgu Hj Abd Kadir bin Hj Hassan
with a school population of 208 students (170 male boys and 138
girls) and 13 teachers.
Beginning with a briefing by
Shahrin Hj Abd Razak, the principal touched on the aims and vision
of the school, organisational structure, academic planning and
achievements, development of teachers and school activities
including the 3K programme of 'Kebersihan, Kesihatan and Keindahan'
as well as the Mirhadh programme to promote toilet hygiene.
Student activities include the
Dikir Syarafil Anam, Syarahan Tafsir al-Quran, reading of the Al-Quran
Competition, Khatam al-Quran for pupils in primary 6 and many more.
This was followed by a Q&A session
between the Acting Permanent Secretary, his delegation and the
school, where Dato Paduka Awang Haji Ishaaq heard the problems faced
and efforts to upgrade academic achievement in primary 6 religious
school exams.
Dato Paduka Awang Haji Ishaaq was
also briefed on the 3K, Mirhadh and excellent student programme. The
school also aims to establish good ties with the community
especially parents and head of villages, in assisting students'
performance, welfare of the school and its environment.
