Students Have Fun In ISB Creative
Week
Bandar Seri
Begawan - In the spirit of `being creative', the children in
ISB's primary level spent a week participating in a range of
activities that encouraged students to explore their creative side
according to a press release.
Students of Year Five and Six
developed the idea of "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle" to make a
sculpture from cans and musical instruments from junk. They also
made mosaics, rangoli patterns, both on fabric and outside using
coloured rice and explored issues through drama.
For those in Year Three and Four,
they studied works by artists Matisse and Picasso, made a Kampong
Ayer mural, worked with clay, created art with a computer programme,
took part in drama activities and learnt some traditional games.
Year Two, on the other hand, worked
with the theme of superheroes and made models, designed costumes and
painted pictures of their "superhero".
Students in Year One worked on
drama activities and, with the generous help of Mr Lau, a parent,
painted plaster moulds. Meanwhile, reception classes were not to be
left out, the children took part in a range of activities including
learning a dance called the Macarena.
The school had class visits by the
Brunei Traditional Arts and Handicraft Training Centre who
demonstrated to the children traditional weaving. Additionally,
Denny, an artist from the Borneo Bulletin, came to demonstrate
techniques for drawing cartoons to the older students. -- Courtesy of Borneo
