National Al-Quran Reading Competition Winners To Be Announced Today

Bandar Seri Begawan - Twenty three people comprising 17 qari and six qariah participated in the National Al-Quran Reading Competition Adult Level 2008 semifinals yesterday at Dewan Amar Pahlawan, Ministry of Communications, Berakas.

They had participated in the quarterfinals of the National A1-Quran Reading Competition 2008 getting marks of 80 per cent or higher, which was held in March. They also participated in the finals of the National Al-Quran Reading Competition 2007.

The competition aims to choose three of the best qari and qariah that will compete in the finals, alongside qari and qariah champions of the National Al-Quran Reading Competition Adult Level 2007.

The announcement of the winners and souvenir presentation will be held today (April 17) at the same venue.

The competition is organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs in collaboration with the Islamic Eminence Development Division and in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
