Pakistan Honours Bruneian
Fund-Raiser

Begawan - The Pakistan High Commission in Brunei Darussalam
yesterday held a ceremony to honour a Bruneian in recognition of his
humanitarian work.
The medal of Tamgha-l-Eisar (Medal
of Sacrifice) was awarded to Awg Mohammad Elleys bin Abdullah at
the Orchid Garden Hotel in Berakas in recognition of his efforts in
raising funds to support Pakistan's relief fund for victims of the
earthquake that devastated northern Pakistan on October 8, 2005.
Present at the event were the
Deputy Minister of Industry and Primary Resources, Dato Paduka Hj
Hamdillah bin Haji Abd Wahab, the High Commissioner of the Islamic
Republic of Pakistan to Brunei Darussalam, Major General (Rtd) Syed
Haider Jawed, and senior Government officers.

Jawed paid tribute to His Majesty's Government and the people of
Brunei Darussalam for their overwhelming response to help alleviate
the plight of the earthquake victims through the SMS collection,
charity events, walkathon and donations.
He noted that the gesture moved the
hearts and minds of the Pakistani people.
The Pakistani High Commissioner
expressed his profound thanks for the humanitarian efforts and
