The Crown Prince Visits King Fahd Causeway

Bandar Seri Begawan - His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office visited the King Fahd Causeway, also known as the Bahrain Causeway, yesterday on the third day of his official working visit to Bahrain.

The causeway, which links the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Bahrain, consists of three parts.

It consists of a combination of three bridges from Khobar to the man-made island on the Saudi Arabia-Bahrain border and includes a 5,194m long bridge from the man-made island to Umm al-Na'san Island and another bridge from Umm al-Na'san to the main island of Bahrain. The 25km-long road is a four-lane carriageway.

Upon arrival at the King Fahd Causeway, HRH was greeted by the manager of the King Fahd Causeway Authority, Badr Abdullah Al-Otaishan.

The evening before his visit to the causeway, the Crown Prince attended a dinner reception hosted by His Highness Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Bahrain's Crown Prince.

The dinner reception at Salhiya Palace took place on the second day of HRH's visit to Bahrain on Saturday night, according to a press release from the Prime Minister's Office.

Upon arrival at the palace, His Royal Highness was greeted by His Highness Salam, who is also the Deputy Supreme Commander of the Bahrain Defence Force, and other members of Bahrain's royal family.

Earlier on Saturday, His Royal Highness also visited the Bait Al Quran, or the "House of the Quran", which is dedicated to glorifying the Holy Quran and promote better and wider understanding of Islam.

This institution and its museum houses a collection of historic Quranic manuscripts from various parts of the Islamic world, and exhibits the progression of calligraphic traditions from the first century of the Islamic era to the present day.

His Royal Highness also attended a luncheon hosted by Sheikh Fawaz Mohammad bin Khalifa, the president of the General Organisation for Youth and Sports, in Manama.

Accompanying His Royal Highness in all his stately visits was Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Abdul Qawi.  -- Courtesy of The Brunei Times
