Lambak Kanan Elects New Village

Begawan - Some 584 eligible residents or around nine per cent
out of the total population at Lambak Kanan turned up to cast their
votes for their new village head yesterday that took place at the
Community Hall 1, RPN, Lambak Kanan.
The election was for Kawasan 4, RPN,
Lambak Kanan, Mukim Berakas ‘B'
The result of the vote was sent to
Ministry of Home Affairs, where the number of votes for each
candidate will influence the outcome of the election.
The election was between an ex-army
officer Awg Hj Abdul Salim bin Hj Abd Hamid, 44, and a former
assistant research officer at the Internal Security Department Awg
Hj Jumat bin Nasir, 57.
At the end of the voting day, Awg
Hj Abd Salim received 304 votes, while Awg Hg Hj Jumat bin Nasir
received 275 votes. Five damaged votes were removed.
The area has a
population of around 6,220 people, comprising around 568 houses. -- Courtesy of Borneo
