Kuala Belait - Sayyidina Ali Secondary School in Kampong Pandan Kuala Belait held a choir competition in conjunction with this year's National Day celebration.

Present as the guest of honour was the Head of Belait Youth and Sports Department, Abg Zamhor bin OKPSD Abg Hj Abu Hanafiah.

The Principal, Mr Cheong Huat Joo said the choir competition featuring patriotic songs was one of the school's activities to mark the national day and at the same time providing an opportunity to unearth the students' singing talents. The activity also aspired to boost the spirit of patriotism among youngsters and the students of SMSA.

Ten choir groups comprising lower secondary students and Pre-University competed in the competition by singing their chosen patriotic songs.

The principal also said that the involvement of students in co-curriculum activities will divert them from social ailments such as drugs, smoking and negative influences, as well as enhancing competitiveness, discipline and spirit which contribute to the success in learning and in life. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
