Restoration Work On Home Of Blind
Couple

Begawan - The Tanjung Maya Village Council yesterday worked
on a charity project to repair and restore the home of a blind
couple residing in the area.
Lending a helping hand in the
restoration works were Mukim Tanjung Maya Penghulu Hj Abd Wahab bin
Apong, Tanjung Maya Ketua Kampong cum Chairman of the event Hj Md
Sufi bin Md Yusof, sponsors and villagers.
Present as the guest of honour was
Tutong District Officer Hj Muhammad Sufian bin Hj Bungsu.
In a
speech, the ketua kampong expressed his gratitude to all parties
assisting in the project.
Shortly after, works began on the
home of 68-year-old Abdullab bin Kudeh and his 64-year-old spouse,
Hamidah bte Bidin
The blind couple has been married
for over 23 years. The house - built by Kg Tanjung Maya residents -
sits on a plot of land owned by Abdullah bin Kudeh, and has one
bedroom, a lavatory, a living room and a kitchen.
Works were carried out after the
Tutong District Office was able to collect $600 in funds sponsored
by various individuals and companies such as New Motors Sdn Bhd, Aik
Seng Book Store and Teo Seng Lee.
The day also saw the guest of
honour planting several coconut tree saplings at the compound of the
