Crown Prince Calls On Bahrain PM

Bandar Seri Begawan - The official visit of His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, to the Kingdom of Bahrain continued on the third day with a courtesy call on His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, at Gudaibiya Palace, Manama.

Upon arrival at the Gudaibiya Palace, His Royal Highness was greeted by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Present during the courtesy call were Sheikh Ali bin Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain; Sheikh Saflman bin Khalifa, Advisor to the Prime Minister; Sheikh Khalifa bin Rashid, the grandson of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain; and Sheikh Fawaz bin Mohammed bin Khalifa, President of the General Organisation for Youth and Sports as the Ministerin-Attendance throughout the official visit of His Royal Highness to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

From Gudaibiya Palace, His Royal Highness then consented to proceed to Riffa Palace for a courtesy call on His Highness Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander

of the Bahrain Defence Force.

Upon arrival at Riffa Palace, His Royal Highness was greeted by His Highness Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Bahrain Defence Force. Present during the courtesy call were Sheikh Fawaz bin Mohammed bin Khalifa, and Sheikh Khalifa bin Daji, President of the Crown Prince Court.

Prior to the two courtesy calls, His Royal Highness consented to visit the King Fahd Causeway linking the Kingdom of Bahrain with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Upon arrival at King Fahad Causeway, His Royal Highness was greeted by Mr Bader Abdullah Al Otaishan, General Manager of King Fahd Causeway Authority. During the visit His Royal Highness consented to visit the Causeway Tower followed by a tour of the Bahrain part of the causeway.

At the Tower His Royal Highness consented to receive a `pesambah' presented by Mr BaderAbdullah Al Otaishan and later signed the visitior's book.

His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to visit the King Fahd Causeway on September 25, 1988. His Majesty is the second foreign head of state to have visited the Causeway Tower.

The King Fahd Causeway is a combination of multiple dikes and bridges connecting Khobar of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. The construction of the 25-kilometre causeway started in 1982 at a cost of US 1.2billion. The causeway was opened for use on November 25, 1986. An average of between 50 to 60 thousand people pass through the causeway everyday.
