Driver In Crash Escapes With Injuries

Bandar Seri Begawan - An accident that occurred about 10am during a light shower near the Tum4sek Shell Station, caused a traffic snarl lasting hours yesterday.

The driver, a Malay male in his 30s was driving alone and was headed to work at the Istana Nurul Iman when he lost control of his vehicle.

The car, a black Mazda, plunged into a nearby drain after running over a pothole. He survived the crash but sustained injuries. The safety belt he was wearing lessened' the impact of the collision.

The cause of the accident, according to the traffic police, was largely due to his speed on a slippery road.

The accident raised the curiosity of the passers-by, who added to the traffic woes by parking their vehicles on both the sides of the road. The people were keen to have look at the car in the drain. -- Courtesy of The Brunei Times
